To My Great Grandpa
I found out yesterday that my great grandpa died….
In a way I am sad, but in a way I am relieved (he’d been suffering a lot lately)…I really wanted to bring my son to go meet his great great grandpa – how often does that happen?? At least my great grandpa got to see pictures of him.
He was 96 or 97, I’m not sure any more. He was one of the “lucky” ones who gets to die in his sleep.
So, there is no recipe to post today. Instead, I wanted to share a few pictures of how I remember him.
Here is my mom and I visiting him at his store in Colombia. He owned a notions store (buttons, lace, ribbon, doll heads, etc) that my aunt took over just a few months ago – he ran it for almost 75 years…he was also married to my great grandma (who died almost a year ago) for that long. He also played tennis until he as 90 – he only stopped playing because no one would play with him anymore. I can only hope that when I am his age that I can do just as much as he could.

This is how I always remember him from my trips back to visit my family – watching soccer or tennis on tv.
I miss him.

Sorry for your loss… He looked like an adorable person (i have a soft spot in my heart for the elderly) but at least you were lucky enough to know and love him for as long as you did.
