I like mine with bacon, but my husband likes it with ham, so I opted for ham this time around.

The egg is the top of the sombrero and the corn and kidney beans denote that it’s Mexican (in Germany). Anything with kidney beans and corn in Germany is classified as Mexican, but I can’t complain, it’s tasty.

I was very very tempted to make macaroons, but I wanted to make something more traditional and less time consuming (I will get to the macaroons eventually). When I came across her Kueh Klepon (Coconut Balls), I was intrigued.

It took me quite a while to go through my partner’s blog to see what goodies I could find, but when I came across “Rice Bread” I had to do a double-take. I’ve heard of potato bread and corn bread, but rice bread??

Hi all, and especially to my partners who are wondering where my posts of their recipes are.
I had a last-minute opportunity to go out of town for a few days with my family. I promise that by the weekend I will have posted!
Cheers!

So, it was pretty difficult to decide what to make from each blog…there were just so many delicious recipes to chose from.

From my first partner, Ann from Redacted Recipes, I finally decided on her Bean and Cheese Tostadas with Pico de Gallo. I happened to have a can on refried black beans at home that a friend brought me from Guatemala, and I also happened to bring back about 100 corn tortillas back home with me from Texas. So, I was automatically drawn to this recipe. That, and it was a quick recipe to create when I dealing to my little guy being sick at home and still having to cook for my husband and I.
So, if you are a Tex-Mex fanatic, go check out this recipe because it’s awesome! And, the homemade Pico de Gallo was so easy and fabulous , I just couldn’t believe that that’s all there was to it!

I decided to do something new this year a go with a more square-foot-gardening concept. I have everything planted as close together as is possible and it seems to be doing pretty well.
Unfortunately, my onion seeds didn’t grow at all, so at the end of the growing season, when the strawberries have multiplied, I will just cover that whole area with strawberries, and next year we will have even more of the delicious red fruit.
Today I harvested over 200 grams of sweet peas and ate plenty of them on the walk home. Nothing beats fresh-picked produce.
So, what do I have in my garden this year??

Just wanted to let you all know that my husband worked really hard to get my back up merged with the almost 100 new posts that I had written since the back up. Of the 231 posts that were hacked, 23 of them were not backed up. So, please bare with me when you see a post that no longer has a recipe. It will take a me a while to find them all on scraps of paper and I will have to make a few calls for some other ones…
Needless to say, I will be backing up weekly now.
There is no recipe today b/c I have been working really hard to get other portions of the site running…more exciting features to come soon I hope!
