Help Me Name This Drink Contest Winners
So, I am back, kind of. I finally have a tiny bit of time to share with my blog, and I really want to address this contest.
First of all, I would like to thank everyone who participated! And, thank you for your patience for waiting until now for my answer. It has been a rough last 3 weeks – I have a cold again – but I am back to my blog until Thursday when I go on vacation to Ireland! I am very excited!
So…before I tell you who the winner is, I’d like to tell you what I thought about all 39 suggestions that came in:
-the Swimming Pool: reminds me too much of the smell of chlorine
-Deep Blue: too dark
-Bleu: too French (although it does look like the water off the French Riviera)
-hazy iceberg: this is a drink to enjoy – not to get plastered on
-Blue crush: cute
-Blue Hangover: I don’t want you to think about a hangover when you think of my drink
-Pacific Ice: reminds me too much of the color dark blue
-Sock knocker!: this is a relaxing drink and not meant to knock anyone’S socks off
-armageddon: again, this drink is meant to relax people, not make them think of eminent doom
-Tropical Sky: nice, but not quite what I’m looking for
-Blue Drink: too vague
-No Name Drink: way too vague
-Fuzzy Duck: no ducks here please
-Caribbean Crush: nice, but not it
-Tropical Iceberg: getting closer..
-Hawaiian Pool: I don’t like thinking about chlorine while sipping my drink
-Blue Moon: I’m sticking to the day-time
-Blue Bliss: nice, but not tropical enough
-Chase-the-Blues: if you are sad, you should not be drinking anything but the mocktail version of this drink
-BLUE LAGOON-TINI: not fond of anything ending in the word “tini”
-Ocean Paradise: nice, but not it
-Tasty Teal: very nice, but still not what I’m looking for
-Pool Boy: again…I don’t like thinking of chlorine while sipping my drink..
-Blue Ribbon: definitely doesn’t fit this drink
-Blue Voodoo: no evilness here please
-The Deep End: makes me think too much about pools…and chlorine
-The Mermaid’s Memory: reminds me too much of this Disney movie I once saw…
-Island Blue: not quite it..
-Cerulean: I had to look it up on wikipedia…so a bit too complicated for the drink’s relaxing purpose – and the color cerulean is too dark…
-artic iceburg: too cold
-Blue Oasis: reminds me of an annoying company my husband used to work for
-Sea Monster: no monsters here please
-Ocean Mist: too cold
-myxini: not fond of anything ending in the word “tini” or “ini” for that matter
-Turquoise crush: very nice, but not quite it
-King Neptune: no…
-Blue Lagoon: very nice, but no
And the winner is: Efthimia from “The Saffron Gatherer “ with
Samoan Beach
“Seems so simple and wet intriguing. Seems so peaceful and yet so appealing, so ready to blow your top. Like a Samoan Beach.”
When I read this comment I knew right away that this would be the name for my drink. I could really feel like I was on a Samoan Beach with the breeze rushing through my hair while I sip my Samoan Beach.
And, the winner for the Mocktail (alcohol-free) version of my drink goes to “rick best” with:
Spongebob
“Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?”
cute fun, child-friendly. Just what I didn’t even know I was looking for!
So, Efthimia and Rick Best, please get me in your info so I can feature you on my blog!

A very relaxing drink for sure and my grandkids when I have any can have a Spongebob:D
Great choice! I love The Samoan Beach Name! It fits so well
Congrats to the winners
ty-dee-bol
looks like toilet bowl cleaner
You didn’t actually say what you thought of my name, “swimming pool”, but I guess your comments for “Hawaiian pool” and “pool boy” would apply. “Samoan beach” is a great name – though, to be pedantic salt water is just as inedible and unappetising as chlorine! I read all of those names as something you would sit beside as you drank the drink, not something you would actually drink!
By the way the colour of your drink is precisely “cerulean”. I’m not sure what Wikipedia said but it’s absolutely not a darker tone. Did you ever see The Devil Wears Prada? A cerulean sweater features in it early on. I’m not saying it’s the best name for the drink if you had to look it up, I’m just saying the colour is right.
Also, I guess the colour of the Pacific varies. Perhaps you are thinking of the North American Pacific. I would think of the Australian or tropical Pacific, which is a lighter blue. Samoa is in the Pacific, after all!
I agree – Samoan Beach was the greatest suggestion out there. I tried the drink, it was lovely. Thanks!
