Taste&Create V – T&C November Round-Up

All submissions for November’s Taste&Create are finally in! And, almost everyone was punctual – Brilynn from Jumbo Empanadas had something come up and couldn’t take part, but hopefully she will join us again next time. And, we had 2 no-shows from What’s Cooking in a Southern Kitchen and Bake My Day!. I hope everything is ok with them and that we will hear from them soon (leave a comment to let us know!).
Before we get to all the great posts…
I’d like to announce T&C V. Normally this takes place every month, but this time I am going to extend the deadlines so that we can all enjoy the holidays in peace.
What it’s all about: community, sharing, tasting, and blogging.
This is a gathering point for the food-blogger community to come and have their recipes tested by their peers.
How you can T&C:
- Leave a COMMENT by December 18, 2007, and include:
- your name
- the name of your blog
- your blog’s address
- your email address
- I will email you by December 21st with your partner’s info, and I will edit this post and put up the partners list at the bottom.
- You will:
- Browse through your partner’s yummy blog entries, and pick out one dish that looks really interesting to you
- Create the dish you’ve chosen
- Taste it and tell us what you think (aka – blog about it)!
- Don’t forget you have to include a photo – so snap away!
- Email your entry by January 15th, 2008 with
- your name
- the name of your blog
- the name of the dish you created on your partner’s blog
- your permalink
- 1 photo of your re-creation
- sum up the dish in 1 phrase
- send your emails to: myamii@rezimo.com
- In your post please include a link to this post and/or include the T&C logo, so we can get the word out and have others join in the fun.
- Your personal blog entry doesn’t have to be in English, but please make sure that your “summed up phrase†is.
As I have mentioned before, I I am unable to submit this event to Is My Blog Burning – the submission form will not work because my computer bounces around on the internet and does not give its own location – for privacy reasons (and I cannot change it)! And, the “back-up†option to send an email does not work either, so my event doesn’t show up. If one of you signing up next time has the possibility to submit events to Is My Blog Burning, I would appreciate the help, just contact me ahead of time so 20 people doesn’t submit the same event!
Now, to the good stuff!!
This is what we came up with this month:

Allison from Sushi Day blogged about A Whisk and a Spoon’s Crêpes. Allison says “Super easy to make, and delicious with
so many possible fillings!â€

Kelly from Sass & Veracity blogged Other People’s Food’s Goat Cheese Ravioli with Roasted Peppers. Kelly says “Blurb about the dish: Whether it’s made with homemade pasta or won ton wrappers, this herbed cheese ravioli with roasted peppers is quite tasty!â€.

Abby from Eat the Right Stuff blogged about More than Burnt Toast’s walnut crusted cod with parsnip pure. Abby says “a delicious healthy meal full of interesting flavours and with a luxurious feel.â€

Katie from Other People’s Food blogged about Sass & Veracity’s Churro Fries. Katie says “hilarious!!!â€

Michelle from Greedy Gourmet blogged about Whisks and Needles Curried Butternut Squash and Apple Soup. Michelle says “The sweet, tangy and spicy notes all formed a fantastic symphony in my mouth.â€.

Val from More Than Burt Toast blogged about Eat the Right Stuff’s Chicken Stuffed with Basil, Mozzarella & Oak-Roasted Tomatoes. Val says “This dish made a perfect Sunday night dinner. I loved the mellow flavours of the fresh mozzarella. The pancetta added a nice crispy texture and a saltiness to the dish.â€

Steph from a Whisk and a Spoon blogged about Sushi Day’s Crunchy Shrimp Roll and Spicy Tempura Roll. Steph says “Allison showed me that it’s fun and easy to make rolls just like the ones at my favorite sushi bar.”

Nicole from For the Love of Food blogged about What’s Cooking in a Southern Kitchen’s Garlic, Lemon, & Bacon Roasted Chicken. Nicole says “When I saw how many heads, not cloves, but heads of garlic that the recipe called for, I thought she had gone mad. It was fantastic!”
New posts are always on the 1st of the month (sorry, I was late – we spent a long day at the bank). So, the next round up will be posted on February 1st.
Partner List:
Eat the Right Stuff & Elly Says Opa
A Whisk and a Spoon & We [heart] Food
Sushi Day & The Skinny Gourmet
Rolling in Dough &Â Mediterranean Cooking in Alaska
The Cook Mobile & For the Love of Food
Finger Licking Food & Tart Reform
Bounteous Bites & Prettybaking in Israel
What’s Cooking & Cupcake Project
Culinary Curiosity & Other People’s Food

Of course I want to do it again! Maybe you could make the deadline to enter sooner, so we have a whole lot of time to make something from our partner’s blog? For example, in my case it would be a lot easier to use all the time off during winter break to cook something, rather than having to do it as I’m beginning the next quarter in school. And then leave the deadline to submit where you have it, for the rest of us who don’t want to cook during the holidays.
Just a thought. Anyways, here’s my info:

OMG! I am so sorry! Must admit I completely forgot about this (very busy weeks although that’s no excuse) but.. eh shouldn’t I have gotten an email partnering me with another blogger? Or did I misunderstand?
Again, my sincere apologies!
Baking Soda,
I emailed everyone the list. It may have ended up in you spam box. I also always put a list up on the Taste&Create post with your partner and a link to their blog. Your partner was Jumbo Empanadas, but she was unable to take part in the last minute.
There is always next month! Sign-up is going on right now and ends Dec. 18th. My email will go out the 21st of December and I will also post the partner list on the Taste&Create post for November. This time around, because of the holidays, we will have until January 15th to turn in our posts!
Hope you join in again!
I’d be interested!

I already picked out “the one”.
[...] This is what happened when I tried to make The Skinny Gourmet’s Orange Chocolate Meringues for Taste and Create 4. I suppose this does betray my lack of knowledge about baking in general, but when I read “1/2 t” of both of the extracts, I thought she meant 1/2 tablespoon. (Hey, how was I supposed to know that you never use more than a teaspoon of extracts in meringues? – I learned this later when I looked up other meringue recipes online. – But in my defense, she had written “1/8 tsp” for one of the other ingredients in the recipe, so I thought that since she wrote “tsp” for that, then “t” must mean tablespoons? Ah well, my mistake…) Since I tried twice to see if I could salvage it before I realized what I was doing wrong, I didn’t want to waste any more of my parents’ ingredients (I was doing this on New Years Eve at their house) so I gave up and moved on.
