Update

Published by myamii under Uncategorized

Hi Everyone,

Sorry for my disappearance from the blog world – especially to my Taste&Create people.  I have been cut off from the digital world for the past few days.  I will be back soon.  To those who signed up for Taste&Create for September, I am very sorry for the delay.  I will try to get a partner list out to you asap (maybe in a day or two) – more explanation (with photos) will follow too :)

Happy cold September from Germany.

Citrus Salted Salmon Trout – recipe

Published by myamii under Uncategorized

When we were in the US in August we had some salmon that the friends we were staying with made. It was nice and fresh, citrusy, and perfectly salted. What had they done??

I kept inquiring about how they made it and I slowly got more details. They casually mentioned that it only had some lemon juice, olive oil, and that was it. Then, after I asked about why it tasted like piece of lemon peel on top of the fish, it was revealed that they use a seasoned salt as well. But, what seasoned salt is not packed with a gagillion different spices?? What which one of them has grated lemon peel in it??

After further inquiry, this is what I found: Continue Reading »

BLT Steak Minis – recipe

Published by myamii under Uncategorized

Some of you may remember the BLT Steaks that my husband made (and I blogged about) back in June of 2007. They were a really big hit (you can read about it here and here – I couldn’t find the other trackbacks).

So, as I said yesterday, I am trying out some new recipes – or new constellations of old recipes – for my future house warming party. You can never be prepared too far in advance (yes, I am already making Thanksgiving plans…and I am late – I usually have it all planned out by mid August!).

This time, I decided to take something that has some amazing flavor and turn into into a sort of finger food. Continue Reading »

Visiting with Family

Published by myamii under Uncategorized

My son trying to blow bubbles.

While in DC we had the pleasure of being able to go and visit with some of my husband’s family. It really made the whole trip worth while.

My husband’s cousin’s daughter was visiting her grandparents (my husband’s aunt and uncle) and her and my son just got along really well. It was so cute. She took him in like her little brother and did everything for him.

My little guy was so busy playing and running around and learning new things that he was so tired by the end of the day and would sleep so soundly that we were actually able to get a good night’s rest. It was the best 2 days vacation we have had since visiting with our family in Texas. Continue Reading »

Lunch at Charles de Gaulle

Published by myamii under Uncategorized

This begins a series of blog posts about my trip recent trip to the US.

So, we flew through Paris because we always try to fly with Air France. They are really great with children and have great play areas/play grounds in their air ports to keep the little ones busy while waiting for your flight.

We always seem to fly through around lunch time. And, I’d like to share with you what just over 18 1/2 Euros can buy you: Continue Reading »

Back Home From DC

Published by myamii under Uncategorized

Well, we have made it back home safely from our short trip to DC. In the next few days I will be putting together a series of posts about my trip and all that we saw.

Just a quick preview:
-we visited with friends
-we visited with family
-we saw my husband’s childhood homes
-we ate many different places
-we saw a few farmers’ markets
-we went to the zoo twice
-I walked about 7-8 miles each day (and had no feet pain – I love my shoes!)
-we took lots of pictures
-we went shopping
-we didn’t cook a single meal for 10 days – I am so happy to be back in my kitchen!
-but, I learned some great new recipes and I can’t wait to share them with you!

Ok, so I have lots (and I really mean lots) of emails to read through, comments to read and answer, photos, to process, websites to get back on track, and a Taste&Create recipe/post to make/write.

It is going to be a chaotic 2 weeks, so please bare with me – we will be finishing renovations sometime in the first week of September, getting a couch delivered shortly after, and my brother is coming to visit us!

Taste&Create XIII – partner list

Published by myamii under Uncategorized

I am excited to say that this month we have lots of new bloggers joining in on the fun. Many of our regulars are not in attendance, but, being summer vacation and all, they will probably (and hopefully) return next month.

Just a reminder:
-the rules can be found here.
-please do not email me your submission, go to our new Taste&Create website, register/sign-in and submit your entry there by the 24th of August.

I will be on vacation in the US starting tomorrow for the next 10 days, and while I will be participation, I may be slower than usual in answering emails.

Here is this month’s partner list: Continue Reading »
